We are thrilled to announce that the 20th Annual Crystal Apple Awards ceremony will take place at The Venetian Hillsboro, located at 253 E Main Street in Downtown Hillsboro. This milestone event celebrates the incredible contributions of our educators and highlights the transformative impact they have on our community.
New this year, we are introducing a special VIP reception to honor our nominees! This exclusive gathering will be held from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM in the Whiskey Room at The Venetian. Join us for complimentary appetizers and a drink ticket, provided to each attendee. Please note, the VIP reception is for guests 21 and over.
Following the reception, the main event begins at 5:00 PM with a theater-style ceremony. Seating is open, and all are welcome to join! We encourage you to invite students, colleagues, and community members to celebrate together.
The Crystal Apple Awards is more than just an event; it’s a heartfelt tribute to the educators who dedicate their lives to teaching, inspiring, and empowering our future leaders. This special evening honors licensed staff, administrators, and educational support professionals for their exceptional talents and unwavering commitment.

Nominations Overview
Only the first 50 applications will be accepted. Please see the nomination instructions for more details.
We believe in the power of recognition and are currently accepting nominations to honor outstanding educators. We are accepting nominations for licensed staff, administrators, and educational support professionals. If you know an education professional who has consistently gone above and beyond in their service to students and the community, now is the time to uplift their efforts. Nominate them to celebrate their commitment to providing students with an outstanding educational experience.
The nomination deadline is Friday, February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
Nominating an Employee:
All community patrons, students, parents and other school employees are invited to nominate any district employee or private school employee who excels in building future leaders of tomorrow. It can be awarded to individuals who work full or part-time. The nominee must currently be employed by the Hillsboro School District or by a private local school and have worked for the district or that school for at least three years prior to the 2024-25 school year.
Nomination Process:
Nominations packets are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday February 28, 2025, A selection committee will review each packet and select up to three recipients in each category to be announced at the awards event. Each nominee will receive special recognition of their nomination at their individual place of work prior to the event.
Nomination Categories:
Licensed Staff
This category includes all licensed teachers, including talented and gifted, alternative education, special needs, etc., or non-classroom licensed staff, such as a curriculum developer, counselors and nurses.
Administrator
This category includes a school administrator, such as principal, assistant principal, or district-wide administrator.
Support Staff
This category includes office managers and other clerical support, instructional assistants, bus drivers, food services workers, custodians, and other employees in a non-teaching capacity.
Theater-Style Awards Ceremony for Expanded Participation:
We are delighted to announce a special enhancement to this year’s Crystal Apple Awards – the ceremony will be conducted in a theater-style setting! This change is aimed at allowing for expanded participation, creating a more inclusive and engaging experience for the entire community. Students, family members, colleagues, and community supporters are all welcome to join in celebrating the nominees for the prestigious Crystal Apple. This format not only provides a larger space for attendees but also ensures that every moment of the ceremony is experienced up close, making it a truly memorable event for all.
